Appeal to my friends

Hi,
We are seeing recurring incidences of crime against women, all over India. Many of us protest over social network, and blame the police, the ministers in as ferocious language as one can. Many protest on the roads. Media covers it and uses it to increase their TRP. Politicians use this in their own ways. This lasts for about a month and people move on to another NEWS.
During the protests, what we ask for is suppressive measures. But suppression breeds criminal mindset. Hanging criminals or killing them publicly, resignation of politicians or commissioners will not stop future crimes.
What will stop the crime is, people’s movement. Facebook has more than 70 million active users in India. We can create a chain of education, instead of chain of condemnation. We can use Facebook in a much better way.
And let’s not restrict it to only a net-activity, go out in the world around us and make an impact. Grow your network and ‘net’-worth.
Let’s assume, no government will help us, no police will help us. But we definitely outnumber them, we can help ourselves and our friends.
Please feel free to add your views and repost.
Thank you,
Kaustubh

sundaY

At Delhi, Sunday is the day to wash the clothes and wait at the terrace while they are drying. Delhi is really very funny. If your belongings are left unattended, (even a vest) will surely be stolen. Three hours are spent, seeing how the sun carries his daily routine. Drying the clothes in patches... besides all those works assigned to him by poets and scientists...

I often tell him, WAIT ! you can't hide behind that cloud or take a night break, you have to dry thousands of clothes by EOD.

Trip for (to) Tripura

Coming back from Tripura was not so pleasant experience. Boss summoned immediate departure, one, and two, I wished I had bought a home in there before I came back.

Our favourite Wikipedia has a lot of incorrect or dated information about Tripura, I guess. People are no more landless peasants there. If I go by my statistic instinct, I at least saw 1 Nano (at least) per 5 households. Almost everybody has government provided electricity, enjoys satellite TV. 90% of them would work only for 7 hours a day, as the working day begins around 10am and ends around 5pm. Rest of them are Police force, Army personnel, Traffic Police and daily wagers. In six days of stay, I could spot only two beggars. I saw Traffic Police, at every “chowmuhani”, even when there are no vehicles on road.

People seemed happy and relaxed, yet active. I did not see the people who help keep the place clean, but the state looks clean and GREEN. Neatly constructed roads are available till the remotest villages. Paths paved with bricks, then, take you to the homes of tribals. Bengalis hesitate to go into the tribal area (because of the 'now-non-existant' revolt), but do not hesitate to mention that tribals are kind hearted.

Very few people migrate out of Tripura. They usually go shopping to Kolkata and Mumbai, but not to earn bread.

Tribal women spend months on weaving their own clothes, and sometimes sell their beautiful creation for Rs.200 or less, which our famous 'NAB' India sells at Rs.1000+.
Almost everybody seems to have either rubber & bamboo plantation, pig farming as a side business. As rightly said by our guide "everybody has money... some have more, some have little less than others"

So... finally I found a one happy state in India.
trying to break open the cage,

you chose for yourself.

eager to reunite with the family,

will you go into another cage or chose the sky lovely...

Look!

There is a beautiful bird!

who sings classical thumri when she is alone and the TV is not ON!

since birth, she goes to bed listening to Kaushki Chakraborty, bhupal panshikar and many other classical singers

at six, dances to her own tunes and practices to her newly learnt kathak thode time and again even at wee hours of night donning her (heavy for her age) ghungaroos.

composes short touchy poems, from whatever words she knows

paints with amazingly beautiful colour combinations, spending hours and hours and then complaining of neck pain

speaks from heart, noticing every single detail, giving frank and many times blunt opinions

so tolerant, one can easily make her smile, with a picture or song, even when she is physically hurt

amazing!

anannya! i now agree my wife who came up with this name, when we named her two months after her birth.
